The oxidants contain hydrogen peroxide, buffer components, catalysts, preservatives, fragrances, and care components. The higher the hydrogen peroxide content, the higher the oxide percentage (6%, 12%). The Vol designation indicates the amount of oxygen released (5 vol, 12 vol, 20 vol). 

The strength of the oxidants used depends on the original color of the curls, their structure and the desired result. For example, dark hair can be dyed blond only after a high-quality bleaching process. Dark shaven hair requires a 12% oxide, but if the structure of the hair is weak and the cuticle is damaged, it is not worth the additional stress on it. It is better to use 9% or 7.5% formulas.

Low-percent oxides are suitable for tinting natural hair, previously bleached hair and only for a slight color refresh. For tone-on-tone or one step darker coloration 3% = 10 vol, for a change of 1-2 tones and graying 6% = 20 vol, lightening from 2 to 4 tones is possible with the composition 9% = 30 vol, the background lightening of 4-5 tones provides 12% = 40 vol.
